La Civetta, a lovely detached cottage, nestles in a very peaceful and private location in the countryside and yet is only 1.7 km from the town of San Gimignano. The private terrace of the apartment enjoys a lovely view of the medieval town and its famous towers, and there is a beautiful secluded swimming pool.
La Civetta is a typical country cottage on a little estate in the heart of the Tuscan countryside only a very short distance from the beautiful town of San Gimignano. It is approached by a private driveway leading from the ‘Via Vecchia’ the old Roman road to the town. This quiet country lane enjoys a spectacular panorama and makes for a most enjoyable walk into the town with its selection of shops and restaurants.
La Civetta has been carefully restored and is furnished in a typical rustic Tuscan style reflecting the country way of life. Original beamed ceilings and terracotta floors have been retained and the comfortable furnishings and whitewashed walls create a warm and happy atmosphere.
The living room has two unusual arched windows, a sitting area for relaxing, dining table and chairs and a kitchen corner and there are two bedrooms and a shower room. The living room opens onto the apartments private terrace which is furnished with table, chairs and sun umbrella, and is the perfect spot for dining al fresco.
A pathway and rustic steps lead from the cottage down to the swimming pool (12m x 6m) which is in a very private position below the house and enjoys fine views of the countryside and surrounding woodland. The pool is furnished with sun umbrellas and sunbeds, and is reserved for the use of guests renting La Civetta and for the occasional use of the owner.
La Civetta’s accommodation is all on the ground floor, on the basement floor there are only storerooms. The owners who live in Florence have a farmhouse close to the cottage which they visit at weekends and holidays. They are friendly and helpful without intruding on your privacy. Parking is in the grounds next to the cottage. Only 11km away is the town of Poggibonsi with rail and road links to Florence and Siena.
La Civetta is the perfect choice for a peaceful and tranquil holiday immersed in the heart of nature and the countryside, yet so close to San Gimignano and perfectly located for exploring the treasures of Tuscany.
