Two Bedroom Detached House San Gimignano

Villa La Doccia is a lovely example of a restored Tuscan barn with the great advantage of having its’ own large private swimming pool yet is only a short walk from the wonderfully preserved medieval town of San Gimignano. There are pretty views of the countryside from the grounds and in a secluded position is a garden terrace perfect for dining al fresco.

Set just off one of the country roads leading into San Gimignano this lovely villa is only a short walk of 300m away from the gateway of Porta San Matteo so perfectly located to explore all this wonderful town has to offer.

Originally a detached barn, Villa La Doccia has been carefully converted whilst retaining original features of terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and charming slanted bricks on the bedroom windows. Furnished in typical Tuscan style the villa has two floors, on the ground floor is a kitchen/dining room, a sitting room with settee (which converts to a double bed on request) and a shower room. Stairs lead to the first floor where there are two pretty bedrooms each with ensuite shower room. In the sitting room and in one of the bedrooms, large arched frosted glass windows give a light and airy feel, whilst ensuring privacy and protection against the heat of the sun and modern comforts of air conditioning and internet access (both payable locally) have been added.

At the side of the house is a paved patio area enjoying lovely views over the countryside, and a few steps away is a secluded garden terrace with pergola, table and chairs and barbecue, perfect for dining alfresco whilst glimpsing the bell tower of the Church of Sant’Agostino over the trees.

A real highlight is the villas large private swimming pool (14m x 7m) set in a lovely position in the grounds close to the house. Bordered by grass lawns and secluded by olive trees and hedges for privacy its’ a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a cooling dip. Use of the pool is reserved for guests renting Villa La Doccia. The owner who lives in the farmhouse next door, has a vineyard and an olive grove from which he produces his own wine and olive oil and whilst being helpful and friendly will not intrude on your privacy.

The grounds of Villa La Doccia and the owner’s house are fully enclosed and there is covered parking. This much sought after property, being just off one of the country roads leading into San Gimignano, is perfectly placed for exploring this gorgeous town with its historic monuments and excellent selection of shops and restaurants on foot, yet Florence and Siena are easily accessible via the rail, road and bus links at Poggibonsi only 11km away.
