Capri must surely be one of the most beautiful of Italy’s islands and an elite playground for the rich and famous. Many visitors only go to Capri for the day, but the real way to really enjoy the islands charm is to stay for longer, and explore properly. See our wonderful apartments with in great locations in Capri. Capri town is the principal town on the island. The famous ‘piazzetta’ square and main pedestrian shopping street are lined wonderful chic boutiques and pavement cafes perfect for sitting and watching the world go by. Only residents cars are normally allowed on the island but it’s really easy to get around and see the island’s many sights by public transport. Well worth a visit is the main port and beach at Marina Grande, the view points of the spectacular Faraglioni rocks and the smaller town of Anacapri. Boat trips along the coast are a lovely way to see around the island, and a trip to the blue grotto, a sunken cave reached only by small boat from the sea with amazing azure water, is a truly unique sight and not to be missed. If you want to explore further afield there ferries and hydrofoils to the mainland, namely Naples, watched over by Mount Vesuvius and the cosmopolitan town of Sorrento. The cuisine in this area is superb, fish is obviously a local speciality as is the famous ‘caprese’ salad a mix of fresh mozzarella and juicy tomatoes.
