Two Bedroom Third Floor Apartment Sorrento

Rouge is a characteristic apartment overlooking the pretty port area in the hub of Sorrento, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of this lovely seaside town. There are wonderful views of the sea from its windows. The apartment is perfectly located for exploring Sorrento on foot and there is a little beach close by.

The interior of the apartment Rouge is pleasingly decorated with bright Mediterranean colours, as well as being very light and airy thanks to the lovely large windows with French balconies enjoying wonderful views of the sea. Although the apartment itself has been fully refurbished the exterior and main staircase 19th Century palazzo where it is situated has not been quite so lucky. This once charming building has not been very well kept over the years so is suitable for those seeking real Sorrento and its inhabitants rather than a complex aimed solely for tourists. In fact the apartment is situated on the third and last floor of the building, the other floors taken up by resident locals.

Overlooking the port the palazzo is surrounded by little cafes, shops and restaurants, the centre of Sorrento is just a few minutes’ walk away and a real joy to explore. There is a little beach just round the corner from the apartment and being close to the port it is a handy location as the ferries and hydrofoil to Naples, the lovely islands of Ischia and Capri, boat trips along the Amalfi coast depart from here.

Rouge consists of a pretty living room with settee, dining table and chairs, kitchen corner with 2 electric rings, small oven and fridge. There are two bedrooms, one with double bed, one with twin beds and a shower room. The owner has added the modern comforts of television, air conditioning and the apartment has two French balconies with lovely views overlooking the sea.

The town of Sorrento with its cosmopolitan atmosphere and delightful maze of shops, cafes, restaurants, and beach facilities is easily explored on foot or you can hop on the local bus from the port. Once you have exhausted the delights of Sorrento there is plenty more to see in the area. Lovely whitewashed towns such as Positano and Amalfi built loftily on the hillsides looking down towards the clear blue sea are easily reached, and you can also enjoy a trip to Mount Vesuvius or the ruins at Pompeii. There are bus and train links from Sorrento to many of these sights and ferry services to the islands and Naples. Organised local excursions are also available. So a perfect location for those not wishing to hire a car.

The cuisine in this area is superb there is an excellent selection of local restaurants and pizzerias serving the not to be missed Neapolitan pizza. It’s wonderful to just sip a coffee in one of the many pavement cafes overlooking the port or in one of the pretty squares of Sorrento.
