Affresco is a cosy apartment on the wine producing estate of Le Vigne, the apartment opens onto the estate’s pretty stone courtyard where there is a patio area with table, chairs and gazebo. From the cypress lined drive, the first view of San Gimignano rises up on the horizon, and can be seen from almost every corner of the farm. A view particularly enjoyed from the estates perfectly located swimming pool.

Affresco is situated on the ground floor of a converted farm building opposite the main farmhouse. Pleasantly furnished in keeping with simple Tuscan tradition, it has a country style kitchen with dining table and chairs, a double bedroom (where an extra single bed can be provided on request) and a shower room. Both the kitchen and bedroom have patio doors leading onto the central courtyard where the apartment has a patio area furnished with table, chairs and gazebo for dining al fresco.
From the gardens of the estate there are spectacular views of the countryside spread before you like a patchwork quilt of vineyards, olive groves and sunflower fields with San Gimignano rising majestically on the skyline. A rose bordered pathway leads through the grounds to the lovely swimming pool (14m x 7m). Set in a beautiful position slightly above the house, the pool, furnished with sunloungers, sun umbrellas, is surrounded by grassy terraces, pretty flower beds, and olive groves and enjoys the same wonderful panorama as in the garden.

The estate of Le Vigne is composed of the main farmhouse and various detached buildings. In part of the house the owner resides, the rest forms four spacious apartments which are rented. The other detached buildings on the estate form Affresco, another apartment and house the winery. The owners in fact produce a variety of excellent wines as well as local olive oil, and guests will find that they are free to wander the grounds and experience firsthand the everyday life of a Tuscan wine producer.

With the sun setting behind San Gimignano, and the unique view, it’s tempting to dine alfresco in the garden with a good bottle of the estate’s famous wine, but when you can tear yourself away, you will find that there is an excellent selection of restaurants within easy driving distance. The estate also provides breakfast on request. Wi fi internet access is also available and there is a laundry room with washing machine for guests use, as well as a little play area for children.

This blissful country retreat is perfectly located for touring the area, Colle di Val d’Elsa, famous for its medieval quarter and local crystal production is just 5km down the road whilst Poggibonsi with its road and rail links to Florence and Siena is only 9km away, making the rest of Tuscany and its many treasures easily accessible.
