Il Papavero is a delightful apartment situated in a characteristic country house within walking distance of the beautiful hilltop medieval town of Colle di Val d'Elsa. It has its own terrace with gazebo in the garden which surrounds the villa and a short walk away is the pretty swimming pool which enjoys a fine view of the countryside.

Il Papavero situated on the ground floor of the house, is comfortably furnished and has curved terracotta ceilings giving it a rather special atmosphere. Immediately in front of its entrance with a little loggia is the apartment's terrace which is shaded by a pergola and lies next to an ancient fig tree close to the swimming pool. The large swimming pool (14m x 7m) which is well furnished with sunbeds and sun umbrellas enjoys a fine view of the countryside and and has a handy changing room with w.c. and basin. There are barbecues and a utility room with washing machine for guests use, and parking is in the grounds close to the apartment.

This beautiful country house which origins can be traced back to medieval times, was once a convent which gave hospitality to pilgrims passing along the ‘Via Francigena’ to Rome. It has been carefully restored by its current owners with loving care and great respect for its unique architectural heritage. Il Papavero enjoys the best of both worlds being conveniently situated in the countryside, yet within a short walk of the hilltop medieval town of Colle di Val d'Elsa with its shops, restaurants and historical monuments whilst 4km away in the modern part of the town there is a supermarket and bus and road links to Florence and Siena making these famous Tuscan towns easily accessible. San Gimignano ‘City of the Beautiful Towers’ is only 12km away whilst a drive of 25km will take you to the Etruscan town of Volterra renowned for its craftwork in alabaster.
