Montepulciano is one of the most famous wine producing towns in Tuscany and has a wealth of other delights to offer its visitors. The town itself is very beautiful situated high on a hill between the famous valleys of Val di Chiana and Val d’Orcia between the cities of Florence and Rome. In the centre of town is the picturesque Piazza Grande surrounded by a maze little streets lines with high ‘palazzi’ buildings and dotted with lovely churches designed by great architects of the region. Just outside the walls of the town is the amazing church of San Biagio by Sangallo which is certainly worth a visit.
