Two Bedroom First Floor Apartment Chianti

Podere La Tegola is in a wonderful position immersed in the beautiful Chianti countryside. This lovely stone farmhouse has been restored into four apartments in keeping with all the old fashioned uncomplicated charm of a bye gone era, the simple age of farming. The farmhouse is surrounded by vineyards with rolling oak woods beyond and stunning unspoilt views.

Podere Tegola is perfect for those wishing to immerse themselves in the countryside and farm life. The owners are passionate about artefacts and rural life in the past and have in fact retained many family heirlooms and original features in the furnishings of the apartments which are simple but comfortable. There is nothing to disturb the peace apart from the singing of the birds and comforting chug of a nearby tractor in fact and the owners are happy for you to watch and participate in traditional farming activities of which they are proud or taste their wine and olive oil which they produce locally and is available for purchase.

Apartment Tegola B is on the first floor of the house and consists of a living room with kitchen area, dining table and chairs and settee, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom (with French bed and a single bed) and a shower room. The apartment has a pretty spot in the grounds with table, chairs, gazebo and barbecue for eating al fresco, there is a traditional wood burning pizza oven and also for guests use is a communal solarium terrace enjoying a pretty view over the estate.

The La Tegola farm estate spreads over fifty hectares of woodland, vineyards and olive groves and, perched in an elevated position in the Chianti hills, offers wonderful views all around. You are free to wander the estate, where there is also a natural lake, and various age old stone water catcher ‘baths’ filled with fresh spring water, originally used as a water supply and more often than not by farm workers to cool off from the heat of the sun. In fact the owners are quite happy for you to take a refreshing dip too if you so chose! There are lovely country walks in the surrounding woods with a chance to spot all manner of wildlife and the owners have thoughtfully put a couple of mountain bikes at guests disposal too (payable locally).

The beauty of Podere La Tegola is the way it has been restored, all the original characteristics have been retained including the quirky not so straight oak beams, maybe uneven but age old and beautiful cotto floors, and many other original features purposely left as they were to preserve the charm of rural back to basics farm life.

In the heart of the Chianti area, its’ a great base from which to lazily explore the pretty local towns open air markets and wineries. Famous San Gimignano with its medieval towers, the art city of Florence and Siena with its shell shaped piazza are all also within easy reach by car. There are plenty of local restaurants to try and shops and amenities at lovely town Radda in Chianti just ten minutes drive away.
