Sangiovese is beautiful apartment on the wine producing estate of Le Vigne. From the cypress lined drive, the first view of San Gimignano rises up on the horizon, and can be seen from almost every corner of the farm. Enjoying the same unforgettable view is Sangiovese’s pretty garden area with gazebo and the estates perfectly located swimming pool.

Sangiovese is a very spacious apartment on the ground floor of the farmhouse. Its large living room opens onto its private area in the lovely garden which is furnished with table, chairs and gazebo and enjoys fabulous views of the countryside and the towers of San Gimignano. The apartment has been restored with meticulous attention to detail, with many of its original characteristics retained. The large lounge still has its vaulted ceilings and is separated from the pretty country kitchen/dining area by the original brick archway. Furnished to a very high standard it has terracotta floors and beamed ceilings both complimenting the oak furniture and antique bedheads add an interesting touch to the bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite shower room and opens onto its own covered terrace.

From the garden a rose bordered pathway leads through the grounds to the lovely swimming pool (14m x 7m). Set in a beautiful position slightly above the house, the pool, furnished with sunloungers, sun umbrellas and gazebo is surrounded by grassy terraces, pretty flower beds, and olive groves and enjoys the same wonderful panorama as in the garden.

The estate of Le Vigne is composed of the main farmhouse and various detached buildings. In part of the house the owner resides, the rest forms four spacious apartments which are rented. Two of these, Sangiovese described here and No 50 Tinaia have been recently carefully restored to their former splendour and now provide very comfortable accommodation. The other detached buildings on the estate form another two apartments and house the winery. The owners in fact produce a variety of excellent wines as well as local olive oil, and guests will find that they are free to wander the grounds and experience first hand the everyday life of a Tuscan wine producer.

With the sun setting behind San Gimignano, and the unique view, it’s tempting to dine alfresco in the garden with a good bottle of the estate’s famous wine, but when you can tear yourself away, you will find that there is an excellent selection of restaurants within easy driving distance. The estate also provides breakfast on request.

This blissful country retreat is perfectly location for touring the area, Colle di Val d’Elsa, famous for its medieval quarter and local crystal production is just 5km down the road whilst Poggibonsi with its road and rail links to Florence and Siena is only 9km away, making the rest of Tuscany and its many treasures easily accessible.
