Sorrento is probably one of the most famous coastal towns in Southern Italy, in a fantastic position overlooking the Bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius in the distance. It’s a wonderful destination for having a seaside holiday yet at the same time being able to discover the many interesting sights there are in the area. Take a trip to the volcano Vesuvius, or the ruins of Pompeii and Ercolano, even catch a ferry to the islands of Ischia and Capri or take a boat trip along coast directly from Sorrento’s port. From Sorrento it’s easy to get around by bus, train, or boat and organised excursions are also available locally. The main town of Sorrento is a joy to explore in itself with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and delightful maze of shops, cafes and restaurants.
