Pompei and Europe

In Naples and at the archaeological site the history of the excavation inspires artists from all over the world. Two parallel exhibits, two exhibition sites, one history: Pompei and Europe. Pompei has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997. The exhibition evokes the history of the Vesuvian city, an unlimited source of inspiration, in a constant comparison between the excavations and the arts. It recalls events from the start of excavations in 1748 to its dramatic bombing during World War II in 1943. “Nature and history” is the first exhibition and will be staged at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. The second part of the exhibition will take place simultaneously in the excavations, at the Amphitheater in Pompei.
